Color inspiration

The gold country is my new home.   It is full of wonder and inspiration and of course color.   Each day it seems like I discover something spectacular.

Mr. Magoo Part 2

Well about that epic meltdown.    Yes the night we moved in to our new adventure was a day like none other.  And so here are the details of what lead to my epic meltdown.

As with so many days over the last three weeks this last day in our home started very early.   My husband and I got up at 5:00 a.m.   Our plan seemed reasonable enough and as we had our last cup of coffee we went over our to do list.   As each room was emptied by the movers my husband would do a paint touch up of any scratches in the room made by the movers.   In between this he would also be in charge of the clean up an a VERY large four car garage.  I would be doing the thorough cleaning of the inside of the house.  Our goal was to be completed with this and on the road to our new home no later than 4:00 p.m.

And so promptly at 8:00 a.m. the movers arrived and by 11:00 a.m. our entire home was packed on two very large trucks and would be delivered the following day to our new home at 10:00 a.m.   The loading went very smoothly and it was surely a good sign.   Even my dogs were relaxed.

So back to the story.   The movers drove away from our home promptly at 11:00 a.m.  It was truly amazing.  Surely cleaning and packing up the last bit of things wouldn't take that long.  Cleaning an empty house would be a piece of cake and packing up the miscellaneous things from the garage would take no time.    Hmmmm........but as the saying goes "best laid plans of mice and men often go astray".   Somehow it was already 3:30 p.m.   Cleaning took a lot longer than planned and well those miscellaneous things were somehow multiplying.   Factor in an unexpected visit from the buyers agent to stock the fridge with beer for the new owners and to have me give his wife a quick tour of all of the improvements we had made to the home and suddenly it was 4:15 p.m.    I could feel those little beads of perspiration on my upper lip and just an itsy-bitsy amount of stress.    My husband and I gave each other that look that spoke a thousand words as the buyers agent drove away.   He then joked to me wouldn't it be funny if the buyers drove up right now and we started laughing.   Well lets just say that we weren't laughing for long.    I looked up from the counter I was wiping down and I see the buyers (well actually the new homeowners) pulling into the driveway in a pick up with a load of patio furniture I also see a car pull into the front of the house and out jump 4 kids and two adults with swimming towels.....and I realize this is no joke.  Ugh this was really happening.   Now all I can say is this is not exactly what I had planned and I really really don't like when things don't go as planned.    I also don't like that feeling of no control.   But my husband a master diplomat told the buyers....(excuse me...new owners)... we were just about ready to leave but needed about another half hour.  They said no problem and drove away.   Those last fifteen minutes at our gorgeous home weren't quite as planned.   And I am always amazed when I am under the gun how much can get accomplished in such a short amount of time.   But we finished up tossed the last bit of stuff in the car....including the dogs and drove away.   We were driving separate cars and met up at the nearest gas station to catch our breath.

It was about 90 degrees outside we were hot, dehydrated and exhausted.  My ever thoughtful husband went and got us both a bottle of cold water and as he was handing it to me we heard a huge clunk.   We both looked up and to our disbelief a lady had backed into us while we were parked.    Well lets just say that itsy bitsy amount of stress I felt earlier was beginning to feel a bit more intense.   And well those annoying beads of perspiration that were on my lip were now in full force all over my face and chest.

So after a little clunk and chug of water, the exchange of insurance information, drivers license information and a few pictures of the other car.....which by the way was covered in dents.....we were on our way.   It was 6:00 p.m.  and were on our way to our new adventure.   Our home in the mountain was awaiting some TLC....but at least it had newly remodeled bathrooms.   So our long awaited journey began.  As we drove away I was entertained by the visual of the truck my husband was driving.  It was loaded with so much stuff.  All that stuff was what I thought was just a few miscellaneous things.   Boy was I wrong.

Yeah I have a thing about baskets.

So four hours later we pull into the driveway of our new home.   It is past 10:00 p.m. and well lets just say I am exhausted.  I pulled into the driveway and my headlights cast a glow over something that didn't register at first.   Finally to my horror what I was looking at was a huge pile of trash and tile rubble and to make matters worse......MY WASHER AND DRYER.    A very nice washer and dryer to be sure.  There also was a flapping tarp nailed to our front porch . Our tile crew.....or should I say former tile crew had left a mess outside our home that was embarrassing.   Uh Oh........something was starting to boil in me and as I made my way to the front door I saw more trash, dust and boxes covering the front deck.  Also every light in the house was on and all the shades were opened.   I wish I could say I was taking all this in stride.  But no such luck.   My husband unlocked the front door and it wasn't getting any better.   The entire house was covered in a layer of tile dust.  There were boxes everywhere.   At that very moment it happened.   I could feel it building and there was nothing going to hold back this explosion of emotion.    I went off.

The amount of raw emotion that erupted lasted all night.   My husband did all the right things and just let me cry.  He held me.  He comforted me.   The tears were coming like Niagara Falls but I finally fell asleep.  I think I was crying in my sleep.    The morning came and I had one more little cry.   Unfortunately the crying wasn't going to fix this big mess that was outside and inside our house.   So I got myself together and went to wash my face and comb my hair.   When I looked in the mirror there was someone staring back at me that I didn't recognize.

My eyes were so swollen.  I looked like Mr. Magoo's daughter.

Are you as exhausted reading this as I was living it????????
